Celebrate the Start of 2022 with These New Hair Trends

New Hair Trends

With all the craziness of last year, we saw no-fuss hairstyles and a lot of women embracing their natural texture. Looking forward to 2022, we’re going to be seeing women celebrating with a fresh start of statement cuts with lots of layers and styles nostalgic from decades past.

If it’s time to break free from the funk of 2021 and give your look a more stylish, updated change, our master stylists at Bella Bronze Hair Salon and Tanning Studios promise to deliver the best in new hair trends. Choose from a modern twist on lobs, bobs, a blunt fringe, shaggy layers, upbeat retro styles, and more.

Blunt cuts. Blunt cuts are known for making your hair look thicker, whether it’s a short bob or past the shoulder.

  • Textured blunt style – Make your hair look thicker with blunt ends. Love this style by adding a textured bend into the body for a modern version.

  • Mini blunt bob – Although it’s a bob, we’re putting this into the blunt category. Just because you go blunt, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice texture. This mini bob that grazes the chin has the best of both worlds.

Love that fringe. The modern fringe, with its endless layers and voluminous bangs, gives incredible life and movement to both short or long hair, and wavy or curly. This one isn’t going out of style anytime soon – and the best part – you can shape this cut into any length you desire.

Rejoice in layers. Whether you have naturally fine hair or thick locks, you’ll find a layered look to suit you this season.

  • Texture layers – add texture and definition to fine hair with lots of layers focusing midway down the hair to the ends.

  • Flippy layers – Feel nostalgic for the early 2000s with full layers added to hair past your shoulders. The flip comes in right at the bottom with a fresh, bouncy blowout.

  • Choppy layers – Give your hair an edgy look with choppy layers and bangs. It gives new life to a classic lob that was so 2021.

The lobs have it. A lob is theoretically a bob, just longer. This year you’ll be seeing everything from the shoulder to the collarbone and longer.

  • Blunt collarbone style – The collarbone is one of the most flattering lengths for a bob.

  • Sharp shoulder lob – This look is ultra-modern and on-point with its length shorter in the back and then slightly trending longer in front.

  • Textured lob – Keeping your hair mostly one length, your hair will look unbelievably thick. This is the perfect cut for just getting up in the morning and going.

Never out-of-style bobs. The bob is a classic look that never goes out of style. And it’s no wonder with its many variations that suit any hair texture, skin color, and gender.

  • Softly curved bob – We love this longer bob with its soft ends, flattering curved tips, and deep side part. Evocative of the old Hollywood styles, we’ll be seeing a lot of this on the red carpet in 2022.

  • Cheek-grazing 90s bob – Stopping at the cheek with razor-sharp edges, you’ll love this with or without bangs. Finish your styling with a gloss and you have a sleek look that carries from day into night in an instant.

  • Soft A-line bob – This is an incredibly low-maintenance cut that’ll look like you spent hours on it. It’s slightly longer in the front than the back, flattering round and oval face shapes.

The bangs have it. Bangs are still going strong in 2022.

  • Soft, wispy bangs – Add soft, wispy bangs to any haircut or texture for a modern look. We love these bangs even with curly hair and lots of layers to give it that perfect polished look.

  • Curtain bangs – These are the perfect blend of retro and super stylish for all lengths of hair.

  • Baby bangs – If you have a lot of body or long voluminous curls, these baby bangs are perfect for softening up all that volume.

Long Hair Cuts. We are loving this soft, feminine, feathered style that was hot in the 70s. Think Farah Fawcett (Google her) with a modern cut. Add a bronde balayage and you’ll be set all season long.

Preppy cut. Remember those preppy schoolgirl cuts from long ago? This modern version of the medium-length preppy cut is hyper-feminine with shiny, radiant hair that has a flat texture to allow your locks to free-fall – the ultimate in self-expression. Have some fun with hair accessories, which are hot this season. The helmet variety of this cut is easy to manage for those with busy, on-the-go schedules.

Wild and free shag. If you have a head full of curls and want a cool, retro shorter cut, this cut is for you! This classic shag embraces your curls while framing your face.

Pixie strong. The pixie cut is still a favorite. Go short with a trim pixie that’s trimmed around the ears, or fall in love with the grown-out pixie where the bangs around the ears are slightly grown out, with a clean shaved neck in the back.
