You Can Have Longer Thicker Hair Now With Hair Extensions

Hair extensions

Have you ever suffered from haircut regret? Ever wished you had thicker or longer hair so that you could pull off a voluminous trending hairstyle? Have you ever wanted to grow your hair out, but lacked the patience to wait for months to reach your goal? If you answered yes to any of those then you’ve come to the right place. Today we are going to discuss the many benefits of hair extensions and how they can help you achieve all of those hairstyles that have always been just out of reach.

Why Choose Hair Extensions?

There are many reasons that someone might choose hair extensions. Perhaps they were born with fine limp hair, and they need more volume. Maybe their hair only grows to a certain length and seems to stall out and not grow any longer. Sometimes it’s because they got a haircut they didn’t love and don’t want to suffer through the awkward stages of growing it back out. Some people use hair extensions to add a new dimension of color to their mane, while others are looking to add a bit of glamor for a special occasion.

Types of Hair Extensions

I-tips: I-tips attach to your natural hair with microbeads that are flattened around a small section of your hair with a special tool. This is a great option because they leave you with full access to your scalp. The process is relatively fast taking online an hour and a half to install and they stay in place for 4-6 weeks before needing to be serviced at the salon.

K-tips: K-tips is probably the lowest maintenance option when it comes to hair extensions. Once they are installed you don’t have to worry about them. They are attached to your natural hair with a special heat tool that melts the keratin tip of the extension onto your own hair close to the root. This leaves your natural hair with freedom of movement for a totally natural, layered look that will last 4-6 months with proper care. They do take longer to install, but it’s worth the wait.

Tape In- Tape-in extensions are probably currently the most popular type of extensions. They are fast and easy to install and give you the flattest fit to the scalp. They are reusable and can be reinstalled with fresh adhesive. They will need to be adjusted approximately every 4-6 weeks to keep the tape well hidden and natural looking. You will need your stylist's help when it’s time to remove them as a special adhesive remover is needed to keep the extensions and your hair in good shape.

Wefts- Weft hair extensions are made from real human hair that has been sewn together into horizontal strips. These strips are woven or sewn into your natural hair by an extension specialist for an absolutely flawless look. Weft extensions can last from 3-6 months, but they will need to be moved up every 4-6 weeks to keep them looking natural.

Halo Couture- Halo Couture extensions are an absolute must if you like to change up your hairstyle and length often. You can apply and remove these extensions in minutes yourself without any damage to your hair at all. The extensions consist of several wefts of hair attached to a band that forms a halo around your head just below the crown. Your natural hair is pulled out overtop of the halo hiding it from sight and causing it to blend in completely without a trace. These are the perfect beginner extensions and something everyone should have for those times when your hair needs a boost.

Caring For Your Extensions

To keep your extensions looking great for as long as possible you need to care for them properly. Be sure to use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners like those from our Redken and Pureology product lines, and avoid products with oils that can weaken the bonds of your extensions.  If you wear your hair up keep your updos loose so it’s not putting stress on the extension’s bonds. If you must heat style, always use a thermal protectant like Redken Satinwear 04 Thermal Smoothing Blow-Dry Lotion to protect your hair and extensions from heat damage. Use a proper looped bristle extensions brush and always start brushing from the bottom, working out tangles as you work your way up a little at a time. And never brush wet extensions as they are at their weakest and most prone to breakage when wet.
